I was taking a #2 in the university's main corridor's bathroom, checking twitter when the iPhone froze. I got angry and started pushing all the buttons.
When the phone unfroze, it took a screenshot and made a very loud sound, echoing all over the 10+ stalls.
Someone on another stall said:
- I have no idea what you're taking pictures of. But I surely don't want to know.
More people than I thought were in the bathroom laugh out loud. I sit there for another 10 minutes in shame.

Seeing as today seems to be full of Android VS Apple...

One of the first things I did was turn off all of those annoying sound effects in the settings.

Is there a way to disable iPhone's shutter sound even when it's not on silent? I've tried it before.

I just checked again. I guess not. I always keep my phone on vibrate so I guess I figured there was a shutter sound on/off like for the lock sound and keyboard clicks.

There was this option, but I think it was pre iOS 4 or something.
I remember once reading there was some legal stuff that kind of forced developers to remove this option. When I had an Android, running CM7 there was a huge disclaimer when you disabled the shutter sound, pointing on several legal stuff and that it's completely under my responsibility. Guess Apple went for the easy way of avoiding any legal actions against them.

I guess silently taking photos of people can be a bit risque. :/

No one would get this joke. I live in Brazil so I translated what the guy said.
But still, yeah... I switched to iPhone because my Androids were always freezing and full of glitches. Pretty ironic.
It happened when I opened a link on twitter, it opened a page with lots of redirects and some scripts. I copied the link and opened it on Chrome, where there a tab of that Arcade Fire presentation started reloading. Both tabs were too heavy for it I guess.
